Alexander William Thomas, Senior Manager – Events, writes in about what the Events Team is up to.
Despite restrictions put in place to manage operations surrounding COVID-19, the Mosanada Sports FM Events Team have been continually active preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™. With the responsibility to provide operations and management services for over 100 venues across Qatar during the tournament, the team have been developing workforce plans, carrying out training site and stadium familiarization and improving event management processes. The Operations Team is managing the day-to-day facility operations and providing planning and guidance for events as the Stadium Authority representative.
The Sports FM team are also focusing on the delivery and planning of flagship events for Qatar and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The AFC Champions League kicked off on 14th September in Khalifa International Stadium featuring visiting teams from 6 countries across West Asia. Jassim Bin Hamad and Al Janoub Stadiums were again used for international competitions. At the same time, the recently inaugurated Education City Stadium, the “Diamond in the Desert”, welcomed international players to its turf for the first time. With both new and legacy venues in use for this event, Mosanada were deeply involved to ensure that all venue systems, hard and soft services, cooling technology and temporary overlays functioned without interruption throughout the schedule.
Mosanada continues to facilitate the handover of newly commissioned venues, preparing them to host upcoming events. The Sports FM Events team oversees the delivery of full-scale event overlays including perimeter fence-lines, temporary structures, temporary power, cabins and toilets, tents, and a range of other deliverables. All this hard work delivers a fan experience that is safe, enjoyable and of the highest possible standard.
